CD: Rizzo "Big Fat Zero" (self-released, 1997)
Rizzo was a band that spent years toiling in obscurity in the Toledo, Ohio area. Led by founding guitarist/vocalist Mario Martinez, their 1997 set "Big Fat Zero" also featured guitarist Tom Jaqua, keyboardist Dennis Hafner and bassist Kurt Marshall. Their sound is a surprisingly ornate and stately American hard rock with plenty of big hooks and choruses, and some great classic guitar work. These guys were destined for arenas!
