Originally released on LP in the 1970s, this album contains the inaugural recording of "Wilderness Journal" Opus 41, symphony for bass-baritone, organ and orchestra, based on the writings of Henry David Thoreau.  The National Symphony Orchestra, Antal Dorati, conductor, with Donald Gramm, bass-baritone, and Paul Callaway, organ.  Recorded at the Kennedy Center on the occasion of the dedication of the Filene Great Organ in 1972.  Also contains "Incantation For Jazz Band" by the same composer, performed by the Eastman Jazz Ensemble, conductor Raymond Wright.
